I was stacking the dishwasher after a long day at work. Between the brown smears and the sticky spoons – it hit me. My great professional “aha” moment.
Ready or not, I needed to leave the comfort of my corporate role and take a risk. And I did… Eventually.
First, I considered the idea. Then decided. Then said my sad goodbyes. Then did it.
I left to offer HR Mentoring services. At the start, delivering programs to a select circle, now, more widely. So, the other day, while I was stacking the dishwasher again, with my head stuck next to last night’s soggy beans, I had a slightly different thought.
It occurred to me, no step needs to be easy, but if it’s too big, you won’t take it. If you want to make a difference, it’s about taking one slightly scary step. Every day. In your own way.
And when you do, it’s about celebrating each small step. Even, if like me, you do it with a slightly stinky dishwasher stacking ceremony.
